Information for Users of E-Reserves and Course Reserves
Using E-Reserves
- Selections from books or journals that meet the Wellesley copyright guidelines as well as links to stable online resources are posted to E-Reserve subconferences within FirstClass course conferences.
- E-reserves can be read and printed from any computer on campus.
- Instructors are the controllers of their course conferences and have control over who can access the conference.
Accessing Hard Copy reserves in the Clapp Library and the Knapp Center
The Clapp Reserves collection is housed in an open, browsable area
on the first floor of Clapp Library and items on reserve may be used
in the Library without being checked out or may be checked out for
viewing or use outside of the Library. Items in the Clapp Reserves
collection have a red label over the LC Call Number. For
information on finding Library material using the LC Call Numbers, click
here.
Faculty members' personal copies and material on Academic Hold are held on Knapp Desk Reserves and may be checked out for use in or outside the Library.
Both collections are accessible whenever the Clapp Library is open.
Reserve items can be searched for in the Library Catalog by Course Number or Instructor's Name.
Reserves Borrowing Policies
- Users who wish to take material out of the library or to view videos may check out these items at the Clapp Circulation Desk or the Knapp Service Desk.
- One item at a time may be checked out during the day.
- Each item circulates for three hours.
- Material may be checked out overnight 3 hours before closing and is due the following morning 15 minutes after opening.
- Three items may be checked out overnight.
- Items may not be renewed.
- The only holds that may be placed on reserve material are Academic Holds placed by faculty (see below).
- Reserve items must be returned to the appropriate reserve desk.
Academic Holds
- Academic Holds are placed on material at the request of faculty for in-class use or a scheduled showing outside of class.
- If an academic hold has been placed on an item, the item may not be checked out if it will interfere with the academic hold.
- The material may circulate during times that do not interfere with the academic hold.
