Course Reserves
The Wellesley College Course Reserves collection is designed to provide equal and fair access to the most r course related material. Library owned books and media may be placed on reserve in the Clapp Library or the Art, Music or Science Libraries, based upon the primary location of the resources for a course. If necessary, personal copies of material owned by a professor may also be placed on reserve. Click for information regarding Reserves in Art Music or Science.
All reprints, chapters from books, articles from journals or other class materials must meet the Wellesley College Fair Use Copyright guidelines and should be placed on reserve in electronic form.
Library owned items on reserve in the Clapp Library are housed in an open, browsable collection on the first floor. Personal copies are held on Desk Reserve in the Knapp Media & Technology Center on the first floor of Clapp Library.
Information for Users: Using E-Reserves and the Clapp/Knapp reserve collections. Information for Faculty: Placing material on reserve (E-Reserves or hard copy reserves in Clapp/Knapp) Quick tips and reminders for placing material on reserve:
- Requests for material to be placed on reserve for Fall 2008 should be
received by the Knapp Center or submitted to the E-Reserves Drop folder
on
FirstClass no later than June 13th in order
to be processed by the first day of classes.
- Before submitting any material we request that you make sure it is not already available in a stable digital format. The Research Librarians can assist in locating this information.
- Please allow sufficient time for the staff to process course reserve material whether in print or electronic format. All material is processed in the order in which it is received. Depending upon the time of year, electronic reserves may take up to 4 business days to process and hard copies may take up to 10 business days.
- Please follow the instructions for submitting items that are needed urgently for E-Reserves or urgently needed for hard copy reserves in Clapp Library.
- Materials may be added to course reserve lists throughout the semester.
- Videos required for class or for scheduled showings during or outside of class may be made available through the Video E-Reserves pilot if requests are received before June 13th. Requests received after June 13th will be processed in the order they are received. Digitizing is a time consuming process and while the staff will make every effort, we cannot guarantee that video requests received after June 13th will be available through video e-reserves. If the digitized version will not be ready, the hard copy will be placed on reserve.
