Overview

The Knapp Media and Technology Center is an exciting place where the Wellesley community comes to use course reserve material and technology not available in other areas of the campus. It is also a place where people can collaborate and share ideas while creating their projects. Responsibilities

Instructional Technology Consultants engage in supporting all aspects of the Knapp Media & Technology Center including Computing, Course Reserves, Audio-Visual support and Media Services triage. Consultants also help in maintaining the other two main computing labs on campus; the Minifocus in the Science Center and the Pendelton Social Science Lab. Some consultants also provide specialized Computing, Audio/Video Editing, Reserves and Media Services Support.

Computing and Audio-Visual Support

  • Support users in use of computing hardware
  • Support users in use of computing peripherals (scanners, digital cameras, CD-Roms, external disk drives, etc.)
  • Support users in use of tv/vcrs, laserdisc players, tape decks
  • Support users in the use of software packages used in creating individual and collaborative projects (imaging and presentation applications, video and audio digitizing editing and export, etc.)
  • Support users in using equipment in Group Project rooms
  • Maintain the integrity of workstation hardware and software (replacing printer paper and toner cartridges, troubleshooting, reporting broken equipment, etc.) and keep workstations in order
  • Assist administrative staff in maintaining the computing labs along with other satellite computing labs on campus.
Course Reserves Support
  • Provide direct circulation services to students, faculty, and other patrons
  • Shelve material according to Library of Congress system
  • Direct patrons toward specific area/material
  • Support patrons with on-line research
  • Assist administrative staff in assembling, delivering, and maintaining the material reserved for classroom instruction
Media Services Triage
  • Assist users with creating online reservations for classroom equipment, projectionists and videographers
  • Create on-demand video copy requests using our online log system
  • Direct users to Media Services staff members when necessary
Specialized Reserves, Audio/Video Editing and Media Services Support
  • Provide freelance electronic reserves scanning
  • Process print, media and e-reserves for use by students
  • Support users in the use of equipment in the video production studio
  • Support users in the use of the equipment in the post-production audio and video editing rooms
  • Receive audio/visual requests and maintain record database
  • Support staff in any related equipment deliveries
  • Duplicate audio and video tapes
  • Support projectionist and videography projects as assigned
Additional Responsibilities
  • Attendance at a day of training early in the semester (September)
  • Attendance at all scheduled meetings and ongoing training sessions (usually weekly) unless prior approval is given to miss the event due to an academic conflict.
  • Completion of weekly homework assignments during the semester
  • Understanding of and adherence to IS consultant/Knapp Center policies
  • Commitment to work 6 to 10 hours per week through the last day of finals each semester
