"After graduating from Wellesley in
1997 with a double major in Latin American Studies and Sociology, I spent
three years working as a researcher and project coordinator at Harvard
School of Public Health on a research team studying issues of work, family,
health, poverty, and public policy. When the project branched out to the
international level, I spent a year living and working in Chiapas, Mexico
and Mexico City, conducting in-depth interviews with indigenous and mestiza
working mothers regarding their working conditions, personal health, and
children's school, health and developement. I began a full-time doctoral
program in Sociology at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor this past
September and plan to continue working on issues of gender, Latin America,
inequality and domestic violence."
"I graduated in '96 with a special interest in Mexico,
since that is where I spent most of my time. I am now working for a technology
company in Salt Lake City, Phonex Broadband Corp, as the International
Marketing Coordinator. In August I spoke at a trade show in Mexico City
to present our products to the Mexican Market. I also work a lot with
Argentina and Brazil as we are trying to open those markets."
"I graduated in '97, and after graduation I went to work
in Oaxaca, Mexico to live for almost a year. While I was there, I worked
for an international coffee export company and I applied to gradute school
for urban planning. I returned to the U.S in May '98 after winning a
fellowship from Rugters (NJ) to pursue my master's degree. The summer
after my first year I had a great internship at the Inter-American Development
Bank in Washington DC where I worked on transportation and infrastructure
in the Southern Cone.
I graduated in May (2000) with my Master's
in Urban Planning and Policy. Currently I am working at the North Jersey
Transportation Planning Authority; I plan to work on domestic policy
for a few years while I pursue a Master's in Economics (part-time)
and then return to working on infrastructure and developement in Latin
America and the Caribbean. "
"This past summer I interned at the Hirshorm Museum in
Washington DC. I am currently working at Sotheby's in New York City in
the Latin American Art Department."
" I graduated from Wellesley in '99 with a degree in
Latin American studies and Sociology. After graduating Wellesley, I entered
a teaching corps, Teach for America, which places qualified college graduates
to teach in poor urban and rural areas throughout the U.S. We must commit
to teaching for two years. I endured a long summer of teacher prep. and
training in Houston Texas. I am now in my second year as a bilingual
second grade teacher in South Phoneix, Arizona."
"I graduted in 2000 from Wellesley with a major in Latin
American Studies. I am now attending law school at Columbia University
in NYC. I want to go on to do human rights law. I am also hoping to spend
some time in Latin America someday."
