Faculty: Wasserspring . Renjilian-Burgy . Oles . Levitt . Roses Peggy Levitt has a masters degree in public health and urban planning. She worked for several years on maternal and child health projects in Latin America, where she was based in Peru. She did her doctoral work at MIT in urban studies and planning. Her dissertation was about transnational migration between a small Dominican community and the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston. Her book, The Transnational Villagers, based on this research, will be coming out this spring. She is now working on a comparative, historical study of transnational migration, which includes a focus on the Brazilian community in Framingham.
