Borrowing & ordering
- What if my 16-digit number on my One Card doesn't work?
- Come to the Circulation Desk of any of the libraries, or email the ACCESS conference on First Class -- the folks there would be happy to help you.
- How do I get an item that Wellesley doesn't have?
- Search the item in our catalog, then use the
or buttons to request books and videos directly from area libraries. You'll need the 16 digit ID number on your One Card.
-
- Or, Use the Interlibrary Loan form to order books, chapters in books, or journal articles from other libraries. For more information see the ILL/Frequently Asked Questions.
-
- Note: if you're searching in a database, click on the Find It @ Wellesley button to get the item.
Can I use Harvard's libraries?
- Yes and no. Some of Harvard's libraries are freely open to the public, while others are more restricted. See Harvard's policies for outside users. In addition, special arrangements are available for some libraries: please Ask Us for further assistance.
Can I recall an item that's checked out?
- Yes, at the circulation desk in any of the libraries -- but you may want to get it through NExpress instead (it takes only a few days -- recalls can take a week or two). Items on reserve can't be recalled.
How many videos or books can I borrow?
- You can have up to 100 items checked out to your account.
Can I renew my books online?
- Yes. Click on the My Library tab on the library homepage and enter your One Card name and 16-digit One Card number (alums and BLC card holders use use the 14-digit number beginning with 2, not 6010...). View your borrowed items and select items, or renew all.
How do I check out items on reserve?
- Each branch library has different borrowing policies: - see the Science, Art, or Music library reserves policies. Clapp Library: Books on Clapp Reserve can be used in the library without being checked out, but all videos must be checked out to be viewed. You can check out a Clapp or Knapp Reserve item for 3 hours (or overnight if it's within 3 hours of closing) if you want to use it outside the building.
-
- How can I get a dissertation?
- You can request a dissertation via Interlibrary Loan (see FAQ above). However,
we may have related sources that are more useful -- and quicker to get! Please check with a reference librarian first. Lengthy doctoral dissertations
are sometimes edited and published in a more accessible format. Here's more on how to get a dissertation or thesis
- How do I request that the library purchase a book/journal/video/etc.?
- We welcome faculty, staff, and student suggestions for purchases for the library.
