ILLiad is the electronic system you
use to request an item through Interlibrary Loan. The name ILLiad can be thought
of as an acronym for InterLibrary
Loan internet accessible
database.
- You will find it easier to submit
your interlibrary loan requests. With ILLiad, you enter your name, email address,
and other personal information into the system only once, at the time of your
first request.
- You can get many of your photocopies
more quickly through Electronic Delivery.
- You can get information about
the status of your request through the Web at any time from any location without
having to call the ILL Department.
- Library personnel are able to
serve you better because all data about your request and its handling is stored
in a searchable database. We are able to respond quickly to your inquiries
about your request. We are also able to gather statistical information about
the performance of the libraries that lend to us, enabling us to make better
decisions when choosing a lender to supply an item.
Your username and password allows
us to give you secure access to information about your interlibrary loan requests.
We can also enable you to edit your personal information such as your email
address or phone number.
Your username can be anything you
like, such as your name, abbreviations, or an alphanumeric code. We recommend
you use your FirstClass username. Your password also can be anything you like.
We recommend that you follow good security practice and choose a password that
is different from those you use to access other systems. However, no one but
you will know your password, not even the library staff. The password you set
is stored in an encrypted file.
In the event that you forget your
password, please contact the Interlibrary Loan Office at 781-283-2101 or send
email to ILL@wellesley.edu. We can then
reset your password allowing you access to ILLiad. Please change your password
once you logon to ILLiad.
Yes. Web browsers cache information
and create a history file on the local workstation. This allows a subsequent
user of the workstation to access the system under your name using the browser's
Back button to recall a page from the cache, or by finding a page with your
personal information in the browser's history file. If you are concerned about
the security of your interlibrary loan requests, make sure to log off from any
public computer station.
You can receive an article or book
chapter electronically by choosing Electronic Delivery as the preferred method
of delivery.
- How do I sign up for electronic
delivery?
- Logon to ILLiad. From the
main menu, click the button labeled "Change User Information"
For the question "Would you prefer Electronic Delivery when Possible?,"
choose "Yes" to have your electronic articles posted to your
ILLiad account.
- How do I get my electronic document?
- When the document is available
you will be sent an email. Then you must logon to ILLiad. From the main
menu, choose "Electronically Received Articles." This will give
you a list of all items that you have waiting to view or downlaod.
- The document will be available
for 30
days from date of email notification
- The document will be in PDF format
and you will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader.
- By using this service you are
agreeing to uphold the copyright
restrictions applicable to all library materials.
- If the document is unavailable
in electronic form, the ILL office will obtain a paper copy for you. Please
contact the ILL office with feedback
or problems with login.

The documents
are in .pdf format, which requires the Adobe Acrobat Reader program for
on-screen viewing and printing. This program is installed on most public
computers at Wellesley College. If your computer does not have a working
copy of Acrobat Reader, it is available for free from Adobe on all major
computer platforms. Click on the button to the left to download Acrobat
Reader. Note that there are plug-ins that allow you to read .pdf files directly
from your browser; again, these are installed on most public computers and
are freely available from Adobe. |
