Wellesley College Music Library
Special Collections

The Special Collections area of the Music Library contains over 250 items. Its strengths include scores of nineteenth century opera, rare and out of print facsimile editions, and scores with illustrations by well known artists. Many items in the Music Library's Special Collections were gifts of College alumnae. Several items came from the library of the Durant family who founded the College in 1875.

Items in Special Collections are cataloged in the online catalog and have the locations Music Case or Music Score Case. A list of the illustrated scores is available by searching the subject heading "Artist's Scores".
