SciFinder Web – Self-Registration FAQ
What is SciFinder Web?
SciFinder is a searchable web-based resource containing citations and abstracts drawn from several major chemical databases (CAplus, REGISTRY, CHEMCATS, CHEMLIST, CASREACT) and MEDLINE.
How many persons may use SciFinder Web at the same time?
Two simultaneous on-campus users for all functions except the Substructure Module (SSM).
Is special software required for use of SciFinder Web?
SciFinder Web does not require installation of client software. See the computer hardware and Internet browser requirements on the SciFinder Web - Support & Training.
Is SciFinder Web available from off-campus? Not at present.
Who may register to use SciFinder Web?
Only current Wellesley College students, faculty, and staff members.
May I register using a private, non-Wellesley email address?
No. You must use your Wellesley College email address.
What browser & login do I use to reach the registration page?
-- With Firefox browser (PC or Mac users) or with Safari browser (Mac users):
Use your regular domain username and password
-- With Internet Explorer (PC or Mac):
You must prefix your username with the following to make it work:
wellesley\username
the password is entered as usual
Where do I register?

-- Complete and submit the web registration form. Read the Tips carefully.
-- Exit (or Quit) your browser, to maintain the security of the self-registration page.
-- Open the email from registration@cas.org right away.
-- Click on the link inside the email WITHIN 48 HOURS to complete your registration.
-- Act responsibly, to avoid possible termination of your SciFinder Web access. Violations may also jeopardize the College's access to this valuable resource.
After registering successfully, how do I login to SciFinder Web?
Relaunch your browser to https://scifinder.cas.org. Login, Read & Accept the terms of use.
