Reserves

For Students

Reserve Lists are lists of items (books, articles, or videos, etc.) that an instructor has placed "on reserve" for their course. Beginning Summer 2009, Science Library reserve materials will be held on open shelves next to the circulation desk. To take materials outside the library, you will need to check the items out--all circulating materials will check out for 3 hours. Videos and DVDs will continue to be shelved behind the circulation desk; please ask at the desk for an employee to bring the material to you.

Use the Wellesley College Library Catalog searching by Instructor's name or Course ID, to find your course reserves.

For Faculty/Staff

The Wellesley College Science Library offers instructors the opportunity to place course-related materials in a special library collection called Reserves. Access to these materials is maximized by keeping loan periods short and restricting the number of items that can be checked out at any one time.

Beginning Summer 2009, reserves will be held in open shelves near the circulation desk. Personal copies of materials will not circulate but may be used in the library at the students' convenience. You will be able to add or remove personal copies from the shelf at any time during the semester. You may also modify your list of library-owned reserve items as necessary.

Faculty may use the online reserve form to place library-owned materials on reserve for a course. Other items should be brought to room L002 and logged in. At the beginning of semesters allow 3 days to process requests. Later in the semester allow 24 hour processing time. Lists will be processed more quickly if you collect the materials from the shelves and bring them to the office. For e-reserves, please follow the guidelines found on the Library Course Reserves Webpage. Questions please contact Bethany Templeton, x3923.

Please use the "Suggest a purchase" web form to order new materials for Course Reserves or contact the Collections Librarian, Deborah Lenares at ext. 3596 or email. Purchasing requests should be made early in the process to allow for shipping and cataloging.
