For Students
Reserve Lists are lists of items (books, articles, or videos, etc.) that an instructor has placed "on reserve" for their course. All materials on reserve for courses in the Science Library are kept behind the Circulation desk and check out only for short periods of time (usually 1 or 3 hours) so that everyone in the class has a chance to use them.
In order to check out a reserve item, Call # and the first few words of the Title must be presented to the Circulation desk worker. This information can be found in the Wellesley College Library Catalog searching by Instructor's name or Course ID.
When checking out special material types, you may have to leave your ID at the circulation desk. All videos and DVDs on reserve are LIBRARY USE ONLY and you will have to check out a pair of headphones to view them in room L005 of the Library.
There is a check out limit of 3 reserve items per person at any one time.
For Faculty/Staff:
The Wellesley College Science Library offers instructors the opportunity to place course-related materials in a special library collection called Reserves. Access to these materials is maximized by keeping loan periods short and restricting the number of items that can be checked out at any one time.
The reserve collection includes:
Faculty may use the online reserve form to place Science Library materials on reserve for a course. Other items should be brought to room L002 and logged in. At the beginning of semesters allow 3 days to process requests. Later in the semester allow 24 hour processing time. Questions please contact Rosemary Thompson or Kara Hart.
Please use the "Suggest a purchase" web form to order new materials for Course Reserves or contact the Science Library Collections Librarian, Lisa Brainard, at ext. 3596 or email. Purchasing requests should be made early in the process to allow for shipping and cataloging.
