F. Coleman: "A lot of people find the exposed pipes, air vents
etc. to be off-putting. I don't. But one year I was teaching a small
(15 students) class in a room with an air vent hanging down from the
ceiling in the middle of the front of the room. One day, when I still
occasionally used lecture notes, I was blabbing away and suddenly decided
that I wanted to talk about something else. Without thinking, I threw
the notes into the air, and they disappeared up the air vent. The problem
was that they got stuck, and for many months you could hear the rattling
of paper overhead when the room was moderately quiet." |
