The Collegium brings together voices, viols, recorders and other instruments
in the performance of music from the 12th to 17th centuries. Emphasis
is on performing great music with the historical techniques and styles
appropriate
to each period, and on exploring the interconnectedness between early
music, the other performing arts, and disciplines such as history, religion,
womens
studies, and other cultural studies. Membership is open by audition,
usually in the fall, to Wellesley students, faculty, staff, and members
of the
greater Wellesley community. The Vocal Ensemble rehearses on Monday
evenings from 7 - 9 p.m., when Wellesley College is in session. Other
rehearsals are arranged with the members of the instrumental ensembles.
