Newhouse
Visiting Professor
in Creative Writing

The same generous gift that established the Newhouse Center for the Humanities also established the Newhouse Visiting Professorship in Creative Writing. The Newhouse Visiting Professor of Creative Writing serves a term of three years and teaches a full-time program in support of the college’s offerings in Creative Writing. Holders of this professorship may be novelists, poets, playwrights, screenwriters, or writers of nonfiction.

For the three  year term beginning in 2008-09, the Newhouse Visiting Professor of Creative Writing will be Collin Channer.  Channer, who is originally from Jamaica, is the author of the novels Waiting in Vain, Satisfy My Soul, and The Girl with the Golden Shoes.
