Davis Degree Program
The Davis Degree Program gives women beyond traditional college age the opportunity to participate fully in a Wellesley College education. Davis Scholars are integrated into the Wellesley community. They take the same classes as other students, participate in the same organizations and activities, and, if they choose, live on campus along with students of traditional college age. Their diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives enrich the lives of the whole student body. Davis Scholars are also a community unto themselves and often form special bonds with others in the program.

There are currently over fifty students enrolled in the program, some fulltime, some part-time; they generally take from two to four years (or more) to complete the bachelor's degree. The program takes into consideration the needs of adult students regarding admission, orientation, activities, and housing. Davis Scholars have the option of living in special residence halls (Cedar Lodge and Homestead), and both resident and commuting students gather together at the Continuing Education House.

The education of nontraditional students at Wellesley College began in 1971. In 1991, on its twentieth anniversary, the Continuing Education Program was renamed for Elisabeth Kaiser (Lib) Davis '32 in recognition of her family's generous financial gift to the College. A substantial portion of this gift was designated for student financial aid and the renovation of housing for Davis Scholars. Over 800 alumnae have graduated from the Continuing Education/Davis Degree Program at Wellesley since the program began.
