Hello, my name is Courtney Ackeifi; I am from Hartford, Connecticut and a senior at Wellesley College.  I am a Biological Chemistry major with a minor in Music.  I began working in the Tetel lab sophomore year as a Mentoring in the Sciences scholar. I am presently working on a project that uses triple-label immunohistochemistry and confocal analysis to study the coexpression of steroid receptors and nuclear receptor coactivators in mouse brain.

After Wellesley, I hope to attend medical school and graduate school for public health. I hope to make a career that incorporates my interests in scientific discovery, public health and patient interaction both here and abroad.

This past summer I interned at the Cardiothoracic Surgery Unit at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Ghana. While there I was able to meet up with recent Tetel lab alum, Mackensie Yore, during her Watson Fellowship stop in Ghana.

Previous Research:
New England Biomedical Research Center, Newington, CT
Research Intern, June-August 2006
Mentors: Shutish C. Patel MD, Ph.D. and Simon Holdaway
