Hello! My name is Rebecca Muwanse a.k.a. Yogha and I am a sophomore at Wellesley College majoring in Medical Anthropology. I am a Mentoring in Science Scholar and have joined the lab as a sophomore and am very interested in the mode of action of hormones. I have been interested in research since I interned at my Makerere University- John Hopkins University (MU-JHU) Research Collaboration back in 2007. This desire to be a part of addressing the unanswered questions in science was propagated this summer when I interned at the Uganda Case Western Reserve University (Uganda-CWRU) Research Collaboration Immunology lab. I am currently working with Lisa Bruce on a project that seeks to identify coactivators from brain that interact with estrogen receptor (ER-α) and aid in initiating transcription.

After Wellesley College I hope to attend medical school and specialize in gynecology. I hope to be part of the missing link that connects the advances in science, especially in medicine, to the people in non-western areas who need this information most by engaging both spheres - research and practice.
