Blue Swimmer earns All-American Honors

Blue diver Kate Sorenson '09 completed her first appearance at the 2008 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Oxford, Ohio. Sorenson took 12th place on the 1-meter board and 14th in the 3-meter competition.

She earned honorable mention All-America honors in both events.

In the 1-meter event, Sorenson took 14th place with a score of 150.30 in the preliminary round. Later, she eventually rose to 12th place overall with a score of 391.20.

In the 3-meter board, Sorenson improved from 15th place to 14th place in the course of the day. The All-America honors are the first for Sorenson making her 2-2 in her career at the championships.

Sorenson currently holds the Wellesley record for the 1-meter board. Cathy Poon '11 also competed, earning 25th place in the 50-free (24.51). Poon finished the 100-freestyle event in a time of 57.02.
