Academic Credit
Students normally earn eight Wellesley units for work successfully completed during the full academic year, and four units each for the fall semester and spring semester programs. (A Wellesley unit equals approximately 36-48 hours per semester.) The preliminary course work in Paris plus eight course units at the University of Provence constitute the prescribed course of study. The Wellesley College Registrar’s Office handles credit earned in the Wellesley-in-Aix program as it does any transfer work. Credit is granted for a grade of “C” or better.
At Wellesley, Wellesley-in-Aix credits are included in the total units for the degree, but are not calculated into the GPA. Students from colleges other than Wellesley receive an official transcript at the end of the academic year; the way these institutions treat credit earned in the program may vary according to their specific transfer policies. No credit can be given to students who withdraw early and do not complete the program.
