Prerequisites
CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION
Successful completion of four units of college French (including French 211 or French 210 for Wellesley students) or the equivalent is the minimum requirement. At least one further semester of course work in literature or culture at the intermediate level is strongly recommended. Students from institutions other than Wellesley are eligible to apply with an S.A.T. II score of 700 or an AP score of 4, plus at least a semester of coursework in French or Francophone literature or culture at their home institution. Candidates who have taken two courses beyond the minimum will present a stronger case for admission.
Wellesley course catalog descriptions of French 210 and 211 appear below; the titles are linked to more detailed descriptions that include reading lists. Students applying from institutions other than Wellesley should consult their professors or contact us to determine equivalencies.
