Who Should Apply
We welcome applications from students, women and men, who have a solid foundation in French and who are ready to pursue a challenging course of study in France in their junior year. Second-semester sophomores who are especially well-prepared may apply for the spring semester program, although priority is given to juniors.
While a number of our students are French majors, this is not a requirement: the majority of Wellesley-in-Aixers come from a broad range of academic disciplines, including anthropology, art history, classics, economics, history, international relations, language studies, linguistics, political science, psychology, and sociology. There are numerous courses in Aix that count toward these majors. We also encourage applicants who are pre-med—many of our participants have successfully taken the September MCATs in Paris. For students majoring in mathematics or the sciences the program’s spring semester is often a good option, since students can satisfy the requirements of their home institutions and still take advantage of a period of study abroad.
