Petition Application
Students who wish to apply to a study abroad program that does not appear on the list of Wellesley approved programs maintained by the Office of International Study may submit a petition to the International Study Committee. Petitions are reviewed monthly during the academic year but must be received no later than October 1 for spring semsester study abroad and March 1 for fall semester study abroad. Students planning to submit a petition should first meet with the Director of International Study to determine the feasability of the petition and to review the petition process. Petition for Study Abroad in More Than One Destination
Wellesley College does not permit students to split the academic year between two distinct study abroad programs. Students requesting an exception to this regulation may submit a Petition for Study Abroad in Multiple Destinations. The petition requires a letter of support from the student's faculty advisor as well as a rationale detailing the academic reasons for the proposed plan of study.
Petition to Study in a Country With a State Department Travel Warning
Wellesley students are not normally permitted to study abroad in a country with a current U.S. Department of State Travel Warning. Requests for exceptions to this policy are considered on a case-by-case basis by the college's Safety Committee. Students must provide a letter of support from a faculty member as well as a completed Safety Petition Request.Information on the Study Abroad Application Process, click here.
