OneCard FAQ (Frequently
Asked Questions)
1. When will I get my OneCard?
All continuing students, faculty, and staff should
already have their cards. First Year students will have their OneCards
made during Orientation (Sunday, August 26, 2001 - Tuesday August
28, 2001 in Billings Hall; 9:00 am - 5:00 pm). Make sure to bring
your temporary card with you when picking up your permanent one
-- you will not be given the permanent one without exchanging the
temporary. During the semester, new and replacement OneCards can
be obtained at the Police Department, Mon-Fri 9:00 am - 9:00 pm.
2. What will the OneCard allow me to do?
The OneCard is an electronic access card that allows
you to enter authorized areas. For students this means access to
residence halls and the Knapp Center. The OneCard also allows you
to check out books from the Wellesley College Library and authorizes
transactions with Food Services. Since your OneCard grants access
to buildings and provides important services, for your security
and that of others, it is important to be careful not to lose your
card and do not allow others to use it.
3. If I lose my card, what do I do?
If you lose your card, contact the Wellesley College
Police immediately to report it lost so that we can deactivate your
card. The Wellesley College Police number is (781) 283-2121, on
campus X2121. You will then need to go to the Wellesley College
Police Station sometime to get a replacement card.
4. Will it cost me to get a replacement card?
Yes. Effective 9/10/01, there will be a charge to
your student account for lost cards. There will be no charge to
replace cards that were stolen, provided the individual has filed
a police report with a law enforcement agency, and has that report
available at the time she/he requests a replacement card. We will
replace, at no charge, worn or broken cards that are returned. We
will assume that cards that are not returned are lost, and will
assess the applicable replacement fee. The fee structure is as follows:
á
- First Replacement $10.00
- Second Replacement $15.00
- Third Replacement $20.00
- Subsequent Replacements $30.00
5. The number on the card is not my ID number. Why?
The number on your card is a number that would change
if you need to be issued a replacement card. Your ID number, on
the other hand, rarely changes.
