Being comfortable with computers is important for success in college. CS100: Introduction to Internet Research and Resources is a course designed to give students more experience with computers and the Internet. Students learn to search, access, and critically evaluate information available on the Internet. Topics include an exploration of copyright, privacy, and security issues of digital data and electronic communications, together with the basic computer science underpinning of these issues. Students use Web authoring tools to maintain a Web-published portfolio of their Internet research. The CS100 Pathways faculty and teaching assistant will:
As part of the Pathways program, CS100 students will work with a team of faculty and student tutors. The team will teach writing and quantitative reasoning concepts and skills, and help students with their assignments in a hands-on lab. The team will also help integrate and synthesize what students are learning in CS100 for completion of their final electronic portfolio.
