The Philosophy Society Conversation is the lifeblood of philosophy. You cannot become a philosopher by reading books alone; it is essential to engage in philosophical conversation with your peers. You will learn more from the attempt to explain and defend your views in direct conversation with other people than from any amount of reading. The Philosophy Society gives Wellesley students an opportunity to participate in such conversations. The Society provides a forum for informal philosophical discussions and is open to all students with an interest in philosophy. Meetings are held about twice a month to discuss topics chosen by Society members. Philosophy majors and minors are particularly encouraged to make the Philosophy Society a central part of their study in philosophy at Wellesley. |
