Campus Escort Program
If you must travel alone or feel unsafe, the Wellesley College Campus Escort Program provides all members of the Wellesley College community and visitors a safe, reliable way to travel about the campus during hours of darkness. Campus Police Assistants manage the program, including a shuttle van that makes regular stops along a pre-designated route, and walking escorts. All walking escort teams are equipped with a portable two-way radio for direct and immediate contact with the Police Department communications coordinator, a flashlight, and visible outer garments to enhance their safety and the safety of the person being escorted.Campus Police Assistants (CPAs) are Wellesley College students employed by the Wellesley College Police Department.

1. Which escort is right for me?
If you need to travel from one destination to another and your schedule does not coincide with the Escort Shuttle Van schedule, then you should call extension 2121 for a walking escort.
2. Why can't the police just drive me to destination?
If the members of the Wellesley College Police Department spent all of their time driving students around, they would never have an opportunity to engage in other tasks such as responding to emergency situations, patrolling the campus in a proactive, directed manner, checking our buildings, inspecting our parking lots, and developing substantive, collaborative relationships with all members of the community.
3. Why is the shuttle van late?
The times of the shuttle van vary based on weather and the number of riders. At the current time, there is one shuttle van running. If demand increases, we will add another van.
4. What is the schedule of the van?

5. What if I need an escort when the van is not running and the CPAs are not working?
Wellesley College Police officers will augment the escort program when the van is not operating and when CPAs are not on duty. Officers may provide the escort on foot, or in a police cruiser.
