Goals

  1. To become more sophisticated consumers of psychological research (and research in general).

  2. To learn the conventions of personality research and psychological writing according to APA format.

  3. To become familiar with key methodological and theoretical research concepts in psychology.

  4. To develop an area of substantive knowledge within personality psychology.

  5. To develop the ability to speak about research to an audience.

  6. To develop experience and expertise in problem definition, critical thinking, tolerance of ambiguity, and teamwork.

  7. To develop SPSS & other research skills sufficient for entry level research jobs and honors work.

  8. To develop an understanding of where psychological knowledge comes from, and to have an opportunity to integrate theoretical and empirical understanding in an individual project.
