The planned activities for the week of 8/27/2001 are as follows: Begin mobilizing equipment and materials for in-situ soil treatment. Complete upper Distirbution Center parking lot remediation. Restoration work will continue through week. Tree clearing along Route 135 for soil treatment staging area.. Begin removing contaminated sediments from south end of Paintshop Pond. Begin installing sheetpile in front of Paintshop Pond Dam. Completion of diversion tube. Continue grinding and chipping of contaminated stumps. Continue Northern Wetland excavation and backfilling. Activities conducted during the week of 8/20/2001 include: Began Upper Distribution Center parking lot remediation. Continued contaminated and clean peat removal from the Northern Wetlands, with subsequent backfill. Continued stockpiling clean peat in Borrow Area B gravel pit (ongoing). Began Paintshop Pond sediment removal, including installation of miscellaneous sumps.. Completed overflow diversion tube construction. Continued consolidation area construction.
