The planned activities for the week of 12/3/2001 are as follows:

  1. Remedial excavation in remaining southern wetland area adjacent to main dewatering sump.
  2. Ongoing Paintshop Pond dam and wall restoration. Stone mason may begin mobilization.
  3. Proposed southern wetland subgrade preparation and peat installation.
  4. Shut down main dewatering sump and remove equipment. Continue dewatering from interim temporary dewatering sump (see below).
  5. Reduce size of clean concrete chunks (possible).
  6. Continue managing soil in the consolidation area.
  7. Restoration of field hockey field remediation area.
  8. Begin placement and compaction of semi-pervious fill to south of Waban Brook.
  9. Continue re-dredging cells that were recontaminated by the trailing curtain.
  10. Collect additional post-dredge verification samples in areas previously dredged.
  11. Miscellaneous excavation of borrow soil and filling.
  12. Treat soil/pigment (using ferrous sulfate as an amendment to the calcium polysulfide reagent).
  13. Continue health and safety air monitoring.

Activities conducted during the weeks of 11/19 and 11/26/2001 include:
  1. Continued the ongoing Paintshop Pond dam and wall restoration (including installation of steel reinforcement, concrete forms, etc. for footings and wall sections).
  2. Completed remediation at the southern end of the south wetland.
  3. Extended section of proposed Waban Brook.
  4. Installed interim temporary dewatering sump at the end of the section of restored Waban Brook. Continued operation of main dewatering sump.
  5. Prepared proposed southern wetland subgrade and installed peat for portion of proposed wetland area.
  6. Completed remedial excavation in the field hockey field area, including beginning the restoration.
  7. Continue operation of the soil screen plant, creating topsoil borrow and sand borrow.
  8. Excavation of borrow soil from Borrow Area B and filling.
  9. Conducted remedial excavation in the area to the north of IT treatment area. Some additional remedial excavation in area to north of IT treatment area remains to be conducted.
  10. Continued management of material within the consolidation area.
  11. Remediated portions of southern wetland and Waban Brook.
  12. Created new haul road into consolidation area for dredge material from Lake Waban.
  13. Completed dredging cells F4, G4, and WC1 in northern shoreline/western cove area.
  14. Began re-dredging cells E3 & E4 and portions of area NS-2.
  15. Continued to collect additional post-dredge verification samples in areas previously dredged, and confirmatory samples at grid cells that did not require dredging to confirm that contaminants have not migrated to these areas during dredging.
  16. Dredged spoils were loaded into barges for primary de-watering. Maxymillian Technology is using a barge equipped with a sump to de-water dredged spoils prior to transport to the shoreline. Barges are then transported to shore where material is excavated from barge loaded into trucks and placed in the Uplands.
  17. Relocation of several loads of lime green pigment encountered during excavation to IT for treatment.
  18. Treated soil and pigment.
  19. Took delivery and used ferrous sulfate as an amendment to the calcium polysulfide reagent.
  20. Relocated material storage area and construction trailers to area south of treatment area.
  21. Continue health and safety air monitoring.
