The planned activities for
the week of 1/21/2002 are as follows:
- Stone mason continues setting stone.
- Placement and compaction of semi-pervious fill adjacent to Paintshop
Pond dam.
- Excavation of hydraulic fill in uplands east of IT treatment area
and onsite reuse as semi-pervious fill adjacent to the PSP dam area.
- Placing riprap around PSP dam.
- Pull sheetpiling in Lake Waban.
- Continue managing soil in the remaining consolidation area (west field
area).
- Complete temporary interior drain swale in consolidation area.
- Continue preparing subgrades in vicinity of the water quality swale
area.
- Miscellaneous excavation of borrow soil and filling.
- Miscellaneous excavation of contaminated soil (if encountered).
- Prepare to begin storm drainage work.
- Continue boardwalk carpentry.
- Continue installing erosion and sediment controls.
- Continue to treat soil/pigment (using ferrous sulfate and/or calcium
polysulfide reagent).
- Haley & Aldrich to collect additional confirmatory samples in grid
cells adjacent to areas where sand and gravel was placed (northern shoreline/western
cove).
- Continue health and safety air monitoring.
Activities conducted during
the week of 1/14/02 include:
- Stone mason continued setting stone.
- Peat installation nearly completed in southern wetland.
- Relocated stockpile of clean peat to provide access to underlying
granular borrow soil.
- Install perimeter drain on completed portions of the engineered barrier
and install a temporary poly-lined swale at the interior drain area
of the consolidation area to handle drainage from the capped area (poly-lined
to keep separate the clean water off the capped area out of the lower
[west field] still being filled with contaminated soil.)
- Manufacture additional select borrow (if needed).
- Continued management of soil in the remaining consolidation area (west
field area).
- Placement and compaction of semi-pervious fill adjacent to Paintshop
Pond dam
- Placed select borrow over the geocomposite and geomembrane.
- Miscellaneous excavation of borrow soil and filling.
- Miscellaneous excavation of contaminated soil.
- Place material along sheeting in Lake Waban for slope stabilization.
- Excavated hydraulic fill in uplands east of IT treatment area and
onsite reuse as semi-pervious fill adjacent to the PSP dam area.
- Continued installing erosion and sediment controls.
- Continue preparing subgrades in vicinity of the water quality swale
area.
- Began boardwalk carpentry.
- Treated soil/pigment (using ferrous sulfate and/or calcium polysulfide
reagent).
- Excavated treated and tested soil.
- Completed placing sand and gravel for bank stabilization where required
in areas dredged (northern shoreline/western cove).
- Continue health and safety air monitoring.
