The planned activities for the week of 10/22/2001 are as follows:

  1. Continue dredging Area NS-4 using the barge to transfer dredge spoils to shoreline. Dredging will be conducted from the boathouse working westward.
  2. Continue dredging in Lake Waban and managing material in uplands decant area.
  3. Continue uplands remedial excavation adjacent to the southern wetlands (e.g., former settling lagoon area).
  4. Continue uplands remedial excavation adjacent to and downstream of the Paintshop Pond dam for purposes of installing concrete footings and wingwalls; uplands remedial excavation in the vicinity of former paint factory; uplands remedial excavation south of treatment area.
  5. Continue excavating contaminated Southern Wetland peat (piling and load-out for placement in the consolidation area).
  6. Continue grading and compacting contaminated material placed into the consolidation area.
  7. Continue concrete work in vicinity of Paintshop Pond dam.
  8. Continue operation of multi-media and bag filter treatment system at the main dewatering sump. Change out filter media in remaining two vessels of the multi-media filter system.
  9. Treat soil.
  10. Excavate treated and tested soil
  11. Continue health and safety air monitoring.

    Activities conducted during the week of 10/15/2001 include:
  1. Continued dredging in Lake Waban and managing material in uplands decant area [dredged area
    NS-4. Cell C6 was completed, then dredge barge moved to the area of the boathouse (Cell C14/D14). Dredging conducted from the boathouse area working westward. Completed dredging D14, C14, and C13.]
  2. Dredged spoils were loaded into barges for primary dewatering. Barge is equipped with a sump to dewater dredged spoils prior to transport to the shoreline. Barges are then transported to shore where material is excavated from barge loaded into trucks and placed in the uplands.
  3. Discontinued use of trailing silt curtain based on analytical data which suggest the trailing silt curtain was recontaminating previously dredged areas. .
  4. Continue excavating contaminated Southern Wetland peat (piling for load-out).
  5. Poured concrete footing for the southern "training" wall for the Paintshop Pond dam and wall restoration; stripped concrete form; started steel reinforcing.
  6. Completed grading of layer of contaminated peat and a layer of dry contaminated soil within the consolidation area.
  7. Continue operation of multi-media and bag filter treatment system at the main dewatering sump. Change out filter media in two of the four vessels of the multi-media filter system.
  8. Moving wet material stockpiled in the uplands for drying into the consolidation area.
  9. Grading treated contaminated soil from the IT treatment program within the consolidation area.
  10. Treated soil.
  11. Excavated treated and tested soil
  12. Continue health and safety air monitoring.
