The planned activities for the week of 9/10/2001 are as follows:

  1. Continue excavation of contaminated sediments from Paintshop Pond.
  2. Uplands remedial excavation in vicinity of Paintshop Pond dam for footings and wingwalls. Other upland remedial excavation may also be conducted to produce dry contaminated soil for mixing with wet in the consolidation area.
  3. Continue stump/vegetation grinding.
  4. Complete excavation of contaminated Northern Wetland peat under the clean pad/consolidation area.
  5. Continue construction of the consolidation area.
  6. Spread mixture of contaminated peat and granular material within completed consolidation area.
  7. Regrade and install asphalt paving in the upper Distribution Center parking lot.
  8. May alter the multi-media filter system in an attempt to improve operation (e.g. change out filter media).
  9. Install silt curtain for dredging of Northern Shoreline/Western Cove.
  10. Installing GPS equipment into Kobelco long-reach excavator.
  11. Relocation of fish from northern shoreline side of silt curtain to allow for lowering of water level.
  12. Install erosion and sediment controls for treatment.
  13. Install poly sheeting for secondary containment around the reagent storage tanks.
  14. Take delivery of two to four 21,000 gallon frac tanks and associated piping, pumps, etc.
  15. Set up office and decontamination trailers.
  16. Regrade the stockpiled contaminated soil in the treatment area.
  17. Conduct survey layout of the treatment cells and topography.
  18. Take delivery of liquid reagent.
  19. Conduct health and safety air monitoring.

Activities conducted during the week of 9/3/2001 include:

  1. Continued removal of contaminated sediments from Paintshop Pond for decanting in contaminated Uplands or direct disposal into the consolidation area.
  2. Grading of the upper Distribution Center parking lot.
  3. Continued stump/tree chipping.
  4. Nearly completed removal of contaminated Northern Wetland peat material under consolidation area.
  5. Excavation, placement, and compaction of Borrow A material to construct consolidation area.
  6. Continued bringing contaminated Northern Wetland peat or Paintshop Pond sediment stockpiled in Uplands for drying to the consolidation area.
  7. Continued operation of multi-media and bag filter treatment system at the main dewatering sump.
  8. Removed stumps along the edge of Paintshop Pond in vicinity of treatment area.
  9. Grading of the contamainted material in the consolidation area to improve runoff and drying.
  10. Took delivery of silt curtain for dredging of Northern Shoreline/Western Cove.
  11. Installing GPS equipment into Kobelco long-reach excavator.
  12. Took delivery of environmental dredge bucket.
  13. Began mobilizing equipment and materials for in-situ soil treatment.
  14. Grade out laydown area for storage, trailer, materials, etc.
  15. Install poly sheeting over the materials stockpiled in the treatment area (for use until erosion controls installed along the edge of Paintshop Pond).
  16. Treatment area perimeter survey layout.
