The planned activities for
the week of 9/3/2001 are as follows:
- Continue removal of contaminated sediments from Paintshop Pond for
decanting in contaminated uplands.
- Excavation adjacent to the Paintshop Pond dam for purposes of installing
concrete footings and wingwalls.
- Stump grinder will re-commence stump/tree chipping.
- Likely complete the removal of Northern Wetland peat material under
consolidation area.
- Excavation of Borrow A material to construct consolidation area..
- Continue bringing contaminated Northern Wetland peat stockpiled in
uplands for drying to the consolidation area.
- Continue operation of multi-media and bag filter treatment system
at the main dewatering sump.
- Begin deploying silt curtain in Lake Waban if materials delivered.
- Installing GPS equipment into Kobelco long-reach excavator.
- Begin mobilizing equipment and materials for in-situ soil treatment.
- Grade out laydown area for storage, trailer, materials, etc..
- Install temporary power generator.
- Treatment area perimeter survey layout.
- Grade out treatment area stockpiles.
Activities conducted during
the week of 8/27/2001 include:
- Removed shed on the eastern edge of work area.
- Completed Upper Distribution Center parking lot remediation. Restoration
work still to be completed.
- Tree clearing and stump removal along Route 135 for IT staging area.
- Began removing contaminated sediments from south end of Paintshop
Pond, including excavation of a decant area in the contaminated uplands.
- Installed sheetpile on Paintshop Pond side of Paintshop Pond Dam.
- Continued construction of the consolidation area through removal of
material from Borrow Area A.
- Continued Northern Wetland excavation and backfilling.
- Upgraded main dewatering sump with bag filter system following a multi-media
filter.
