Wellesley Responds to U.S. Senate Committee on Finance
|
In January, Wellesley was one of 136 colleges and universities with endowments of $500 million or more that was asked by the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance to provide information about its financial aid, tuition, and endowment growth.
"One of Wellesley’s most enduring and powerful institutional values is a commitment to need-blind admission and to providing financial aid that meets the full extent of a student’s demonstrated need," said President H. Kim Bottomly in her response to the committee chairs, Senator Max Baucus and Senator Charles Grassley. "We believe that students should be considered for admission solely on their talents and personal qualities, not on their financial resources, and we are committed to providing the aid they need to attend. As a result of this commitment – which also includes recruitment efforts and ongoing support of admitted students – Wellesley is considered one of the most socio-economically diverse colleges or universities in the nation."
