Allen B. Downey

Allen B. Downey is an assistant professor of computer science at Wellesley College. Professor Downey teaches classes on computer networks, operating systems, and scientific computing. His research interests include scheduling for parallel computers and the measurement and modeling of the Internet.

Professor Downey received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering from MIT, and his Ph.D. in Computer Science from U.C. Berkeley. He taught computer science at Colby College for three years before joining the Wellesley faculty in 2000.

Professor Downey has written the usual assortment of research papers and is also the author of How to Think Like a Computer Scientist, a textbook for an introductory computer science class.
