Alexandra Johnson

Alexandra Johnson, Lecturer in the Writing Program, has a special interest in the role of creativity in an individual’s life. She is the author of The Hidden Writer: Diaries and the Creative Life (Doubleday 1997), which won the PEN/Jerard Fund Special Citation Award for nonfiction. She also is the author of Leaving a Trace (Little, Brown January 2001). Her writing has appeared in: The New Yorker, The New York Times Book Review, Ms. and The Nation, among numerous national publications. At Wellesley, she specializes in writing courses focused on memoir and women's literary creativity.
