Joseph P. Joyce

Joseph P. Joyce is a Professor of Economics at Wellesley College. He joined the faculty in 1981, and served as Chair of the Economics Department from 1994 - 1998. He teaches courses in international macroeconomics, globalization and macroeconomic theory. He has served as Director of the Social Sciences Summer Research Program, which was funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation.

Professor Joyce's research deals with open-economy macroeconomics, and in particular, the programs and policies of international financial institutions. He has published articles in many journals, including the Journal of International Money and Finance, Review of International Economics, Economics & Politics, Journal of Macroeconomics, Economics Letters, World Development, Weltwirtschaftliches Archiv (Review of World Economics), Journal of Development Studies, International Economic Journal, and Global Governance. He is currently writing a book on the IMF for Cambridge University Press.

Professor Joyce received a B.S.F.S. degree in international affairs from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service. He worked for the AP-Dow Jones Economic News Service and Rinfret Associates before he received an M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from Boston University. He held internships at the Federal Reserve Board and the International Monetary Fund, and visiting positions at the Brookings Institution, the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, Harvard's Center for International Affairs and the International Monetary Fund.
