Bernice W. Speiser
Bernice W. Speiser is a lecturer in education and coordinator of the elementary teacher education program at Wellesley College. She teaches education courses in early childhood care and education and in elementary school teaching in addition to supervising student teachers.
Bernice Speiser received an A.B. in psychology from Boston University in 1969 and received an Ed.M. in 1973 from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Before coming to Wellesley College, Ms. Speiser was on the faculty of Lesley University, Wheelock College and the University of Kentucky. At the University of Kentucky she was Coordinator of the Early Childhood Education Department where she taught classes, administered the department and designed and implemented an early childhood facility as part of the department and college. While at Lesley University she taught a variety of courses in early childhood education in addition to supervising and teaching learning disabled college students who were working with young children. She taught courses in both the graduate and undergraduate schools at Wheelock College in early childhood and elementary education.
She has been a consultant for the Northeast Foundation for Children, the Developmental Learning Materials Company and the Reach Out to Schools Program.
