Dorothy Webb
Dorothy Webb has been teaching Physical Education classes and directing the intercollegiate volleyball program for the past 16 years at Wellesley College. Her teaching specialties include fitness and activity classes such as Strength Training, Volleyball and Tennis.
Prior to her arrival at Wellesley College, Webb spent three years at Brown University earning her M.A degree in English, with a specialization in Literary Criticism. While at Brown, Webb served one year as the Assistant Coach and two years as the Head Coach of the intercollegiate volleyball program.
Under Dorothy Webb's guidance, the Wellesley College volleyball program has been one of the top teams in the New England Region for the last 15 years and has competed in the NCAA regionals eight times. The team earned a third-place national finish in 1998, and a fourth-place national finish in 2001. Wellesley Volleyball has won nine conference championships. Webb was the NEW 8 and NEWMAC Conference Coach of the Year nine times and has been the NCAA Regional Coach of the Year seven times in the past 12 years.
As an undergraduate at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, Webb played four years of Division I volleyball. In 1985 and 1986, Webb's college team won back-to-back Division I National Championships. She still holds the NCAA tournament record for digs. Webb was named a USVBA All-American at the Open Nationals in 1994, and she was drafted and played in three professional leagues since graduating from college: Major League Volleyball, the Women’s Professional Volleyball Association, and the Bud Light Four-Person Volleyball League.
In December of 2002 and 2008 Webb presented at the American Volleyball Coaches Association National Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana and Omaha, NE.
