Glenn Stark

Glenn Stark is a Professor of Physics at Wellesley College, where he has taught for 19 years. Stark holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California at Berkeley (1985) and a B.S. in Physics from MIT (1976). Before coming to Wellesley, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.

Stark's research is in the field of experimental molecular spectroscopy. His laboratory programs emphasize molecular transitions of interest to the astrophysics, planetary atmospheres, and aeronomy communities. The bulk of his work has involved the measurement and interpretation of high-resolution absorption spectra of vacuum ultraviolet (100–200 nm) and extreme ultraviolet (50–100 nm) transitions. He is also active in the field of Fourier transform spectroscopy of diatomic molecules and has a continuing interest in laser spectroscopies of diatomics.
