Marcy E. Thomas
Marcy E. Thomas has taught at Wellesley College since 1988. Within the Biology Department, she teaches the labs for Organismal Biology (BISC 111), Cell Biology (BISC 110), Ecology (BISC 201) and Environmental Horticulture (BISC 108). In the Environmental Studies Program, she teaches the labs for Environmental Studies 100 and has co-taught the capstone course (ES 300).
Marcy Thomas received her B.S. degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and her M.A. degree from Smith College. After concentrating in Wildlife Biology, she worked for two years for the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife. She then went on to work in Plant Pathology research, with a focus on plant virology, at the University of Massachusetts. Her early interest in wildlife biology has expanded to include plant ecology and environmental science.
She has been active in conservation efforts on a local level and often includes students in her projects. She is currently working on bioaccumulation of metals in aquatic plants.
