dean's extra
faculty under review for reappointment, tenure or promotion, 2004-2005
As specified in College legislation, the Committee on Faculty Appointments publishes each fall a list of faculty members to be reviewed that year for tenure, promotion, reappointment, or merit increases. Listed below are the faculty members to be reviewed in 2004-05, excluding candidates who requested that their names not be published. Early in semester II, the Committee will publish an updated list of faculty to be reviewed in the spring.
All members of the college community are encouraged to write letters about faculty members being reviewed and send them to the Office of the Dean of the College. Letters should be submitted before the R&P Committees’ deadline to be most helpful. These letters are reviewed by the Committee on Faculty Appointments along with the student evaluation questionnaires. Many factors are considered in these decisions. These factors and the process of review, as well as the appropriate date for each review, are specified in the Articles of Government or the Guidelines for the Department of Physical Education and Athletics.
It is college policy to share with faculty and their departments all correspondence written on their behalf. Please indicate, either in your letter or in an attached note, whether (1) your letter should be shared as written, with your name left on it, or (2) your letter should be shared with your name and identifying phrases removed. Letters should be submitted with a signature (not via e-mail).
