Wellesley Tower Purchasing Department Mission Statement:

The mission of the Purchasing Department to facilitate the procurement of goods and services for the Wellesley College community at pricing and quality that meets or exceeds the end user's expectations. We hope to create an environment where Wellesley College Departments would employ the most effective and innovative methods for procuring quality goods and services. Our responsibilities include providing the Wellesley College with policies that foster an ethical, responsive and efficient environment and recognizing the department's obligations to our suppliers and our internal customers.  The Wellesley College Purchasing Department is committed to the highest standards of service and continuously strives for improvement in all these areas.

Purchasing Department Standards of Service

The following standards of service guides the Purchasing Department in their daily activities, in support of the Wellesley College community, we hope to:

Be accountable and responsive to the Wellesley College community, including:
    Providing same day turnaround on simple requests.
    Providing two (2) day turnaround on more complex requests.
    Returning customer/vendor calls within one working day of receipt.
    Initiating resolution within one working day of initial call.
    Resolving problem within one week of initiative, whenever possible.
Providing a Web site (http://www.wellesley.edu/Purchasing/) that includes the following:
    Information regarding the Purchasing Department
    Information regarding purchasing initiatives
    Information regarding purchasing laws, rules, policies, and guidelines
    Providing publications, brochures, and reports when requested .
    Providing press releases, when appropriate.
Successfully support and promote the most efficient and effective purchasing practices at Wellesley College.
Provide timely and meaningful information on laws, rules, guidelines, and ongoing purchasing and e-commerce initiatives
