Click here to access class lists On Friday morning May 17 , security was increased for our Web systems. You may need to download software onto your desktop browser to avoid receiving an annoying and somewhat confusing message (which begins something like "banweb.wellesley.edu is a site that uses encryption to protect transmitted information. However, this browser does not recognize the authority …..). If you receive this message you can A) continue with your Web transaction by pressing enter and continuing (however this annoying message will return each time you use the Banner/Oracle web) or B) go to http://banweb.wellesley.edu/ssl/cert.htm and follow the steps in the documentation to update your browser. Once you have updated your browser as directed, you will not see this pop-up screen again. Either choice A) or B) will result in you having a secure encrypted connection to the Wellesley Banner/Oracle Web. If you have any questions about this please contact the helpdesk at 3333. Online Class Lists Faculty and administrative staff may access class lists using the Web and a username and password that will be provided. Logging In Once you have clicked on the link, Click here to access class lists , you must ENTER with the shared username and password. Then click on "Class Lists". Finding Specific Class Lists After you have clicked on the "Class Lists" link, you will be asked to select the semester for which you would like to view a class list. (Please ignore the box on the left with the equal sign). The box on the right will display the current semester. If this is the semester you wish, then click on the button labeled "RUN REPORT". If you wish to select a different semester, use the pull-down arrow at the right of the box to display other semesters. After you run the report for the selected semester, a list of departments and course subjects will be displayed. Scroll down and click on the course subject that you wish. All sections of courses with that subject will be listed (including labs and discussion as well as lecture sections). Now, click on the section for which you wish to view the list. The students registered for this section will be listed first in alphabetical order; waitlisted students are listed next, in the order on which they were added to the waitlist, followed by the students with other registration statuses that indicate that they are not registered for the course (signature missing, time conflict, ect.) The information includes email address, class year, registration status, dorm. You will have to use the side scroll arrows to view all the information. Use the scroll bars to scroll up and down, as well as left and right to view all the information. If you wish to view another class list, use the BACK button to go back to the list of courses for the specific subject. You may wish to click on the "Menu" link along the left column, but this will bring you back to the beginning of the process where the semester is selected. Downloading a List into Excel - for printing and to create a spreadsheet 1. If you wish to download the class list into an excel spreadsheet, click on the CRN and this process will be started. (You will need to scroll to the right to see the CRN column and then click on the CRN for any student listed and this will begin the process to save the list.) 2. A dialogue box will pop up to notify you that you have started a process to download a file. There are 4 options buttons presented; click on the Save File box only. Another box will appear, and you should keep the name that is displayed (which has a .SHOW extension) and click on the Save button to save this file to the desktop. (Warning: if you have already saved a list file from a different class list, you will be asked if you wish to replace an existing file. When you click on the Yes button, the new class list will replace the one that was on your desktop) 3. Double click on the saved file that is on your desktop and one of two things will happen: · the file will open in Excel OR · a box will appear (Open With) and a list of applications will be displayed. Scroll to the Excel option, highlight it and click the Yes box. The file will open as in Excel. OR · the file does not open in Excel and you are not prompted to choose Excel (it may be displayed with no format). If this happens, then launch the Excel program. From the File menu, choose Open and then choose the file that you downloaded to your desktop and it should open in Excel. Only Microsoft Excel files are listed in the dialog box initially. If you do not see the file you saved listed, from the Files of Type box click All Files to display all formats and your saved file will be listed. 4. Edit the file as you wish and print it. When you are ready to save the file there is a two step process: · use the Save As option from the File menu. Rename the file with something easy to recognize. (For example, ENG101-01) DO NOT CLICK SAVE until you complete the next step. · define the file type. Locate the File type box at the bottom of the save window and click the pull down triangle in order to choose a new file type. You will have to scroll up to the first option at the top of the list called Microsoft Excel Wookbook(.xls). When you save the newly named file, the Excel extension will automatically be added. Printing Because of the width of the information on the screen, it is not terribly useful to print directly from the Web. Instead, we suggest downloading the file into Excel and printing from Excel.
