The Office of Religious and Spiritual Life has produced this calendar so that our scheduling of activities can be more sensitive to the religious needs of students, alumnae, faculty members and administrators. A listing of religious observances and holidays for the following religious traditions can be found on the CWIS (Campus Wide Information System) by going to the Religious Life Homepage: Baha'i, Buddhist, Christian (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints/Mormon, Orthodox, Protestant, and Roman Catholic), Hindu, Jain, Jewish, Muslim, Native African, Native American, Shinto, Sikh, Unitarian and Zoroastrian. Although these religious observances and holy days do not involve work and food restrictions, they nevertheless are an important part of the lives of observant members of these faith traditions. Please note that the Islamic Calendar is lunar and dates are not fixed in advance, because they may change depending on the actual sighting of the moon. The following calendar listing includes those religious observances and holidays which involve food or work restrictions or special worship obligations which affect the ability of members of the community to participate in college events. All of the following days include special worship obligations. Work and food restrictions are as noted and indicate that the religious obligations of some observant members of this tradition may restrict work for all or part of this day. Click on the various holidays and religions to learn more about them! Dates marked with an * indicate that observances begin at sundown on the preceding day.
The information on the holidays listed on this calendar are compiled from The Multifaith Calendar unless otherwise noted.
