Nancy BioNancy Khalil
Al-Muslimat Chaplain

Background:
Nancy Khalil was born in Boston, MA and attended college at Boston University, graduating with a B.S. in Communication and a B.A. in Economics in 2003.  In 2007, she completed her M.A. degree in Higher Education Administration at Boston College focusing on Religious Life in Higher Education.  Nancy currently assumes the role of Muslim Chaplain in the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life at Wellesley College working with the student leaders of Al-Muslimat on leadership development, program planning and over all support of the student group. She also works as a member of the Religious Life team supporting religious life on campus and educating the community about issues related to Muslim students.  She is also the advisor to the Multi-faith Living and Learning Community, and inter-faith residence hall at Wellesley College.  

Nancy is a Research Associate for the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at Harvard University conducting research for the Muslims in Boston Survey, a project of the Islam in the West program.  She is also conducting research with the Sociology department at Wellesley College as a part of an international research initiative on 2nd Generation Immigrants. She is a member of the advisory board for the Tufts University Study of the Development of Economic Understanding among Immigrant Families.  She also serves on the board for the Harvard University Muslims in Boston Survey.

Nancy is an active member of the Muslim American Society (MAS), presently serving as the Director of the Youth Division in Boston.  She is also a member of the Executive Board of the Muslim American Society Boston Chapter.  Prior to this she co-chaired the MAS Youth Boston College Committee for two years, and chaired the Teens Committee for two years.  Nancy is also a member of the MAS Boston Outreach Department Speaker’s Bureau.

Nancy has previously worked as Assistant Director of Hajj & Umra Tours for Adam Travel Services, Physical Education Instructor and Basketball Coach for Al-Noor Academy in Mansfield, MA, and Project Coordinator for the City-Wide Dialogues on Boston’s Ethnic & Racial Diversity in Roxbury, MA.

Nancy is an active public speaker at schools and places of worship.  She has extensive experience on speaking to youth.  She previously spoke at several high schools in the Boston area such as Abington High School, Belmont High School, Randolph High School, and Lincoln-Sudbury High School.  She has also spoken at many universities such as MIT, Wellesley College, Harvard University, Boston College, Boston University, and Northeastern University.

Personal Notes:

I truly love my job!  The community at Wellesley is strong and supportive of one another.  It is a great place to be.  I am currently living in Cambridge with Omar Abdala my husband of four years, and our newborn son Yaseen.  Please feel free contact me at any time!
