ZEN & CREATIVITY

Zen begins when Shaykamuni Buddha held up a single flower before an assembly: his disciple, Mahakashyapa, smiled. Zen has always returned to the upraised flower: what is this? Embracing the present moment with curiosity and openness, we create the world around us.

This freeform, completely not- for-credit class will bring the practice of Zen together with writing, art making, music and our ways of seeing. We will share group experiences of field tripping to special places (the woods, the lake, the hills, the rocks) to let our creativity flow. Poetry, songs, theater, chanting, meditation, painting, sculpture, clay will form themselves from the jewels gleaming within our hearts. We'll choose a meeting schedule at the first meeting of Wellesley Buddhist Community: Monday, September fourth. Wear loose-fitting clothes.
