In preparation for the creation of a multi-constituency team on your campus:
I. Each participating school should attempt to create a team consisting
of at least one representative from each of the following constituencies:
- administration
- alumni/trustees
- faculty
- religious life staff
- students
II. Diversity should be a goal of each team, seeking members from a variety
of ethnic, racial and religious identities.
III. Each team should begin a process to determine the unique aspects of
the topic as it relates to its own institution. Some suggestions for this
process are:
- Think broadly, structurally and strategically. Try to include leaders
and organizers from among the structures that are specific to
your institution. Identify people you think will have an interest
in exploring the topic,
and who might be willing to commit themselves to a continuing
process.
- Organize an initial gathering to review the religious life
on your campus
- Its structure
- Its composition, traditions, diversity
- Dreams, hopes, vision
- Others to be invited
- Sponsor occasional gatherings and forums to discuss various questions
and issues that pertain to your own institution. For ideas see the attached
lists of topics and questions.
- Send periodic descriptions of the process that unfolds on your campus
to the project. We will share these descriptions with all participating
institutions.
