Beebe Hall

outside of Beebe Hall

Beebe Hall was built in 1908 and named for its benefactor, Captain John Beebe, a Nantucket whaler. It was a gift of gratitude for the superb education his daughter, Alice, received at Wellesley. While Captain Beebe was not a pirate, Beebe Hall is well-known for its skull-and-crossbones flag, as well as its annual Talk Like A Pirate Day. Beebe is part of the Hazard Quad (or the Quint) and is a mirror image of its neighbor, Shafer Hall. Beebe does not have a dining hall, and residents usually eat in the nearby Pomeroy kosher vegetarian dining hall or the Wang Campus Center. Beebe is the closest residential hall to the Sports Center.
