Wellesley has always depended on the generosity of our alumnae and friends. Over the years, they have contributed to an endowment that is valued at more than $1 billion. Wellesley relies on the endowment for approximately one-third of the general budget each year. The rest of our income comes from tuition and fees, and from gifts and grants.
So giving does make a difference for Wellesley. Gifts allow us to keep tuition costs competitive and financial aid packages strong. Gifts also allow us to hire the best faculty and attract the best students, and to pay for all the things that comprise an excellent liberal arts education.
