Students with Federal Work-Study (FWS) awards can use their awards to work at Off-Campus agencies that require the FWS subsidy to help pay students for their work. Through the FWS program, the federal government pays part, or all, of a student’s earnings at certain non-profit agencies. Students must complete an Off-Campus Federal Work-Study Packet before starting to work.
Please note that only “Federal Work-Study” and not “Wellesley Work” awards can be used for these positions
Many Wellesley College students do volunteer work at community service agencies in the area. If a student has a FWS award she may be able to be paid at some of them. Additional information on community service jobs and transportation to these jobs is available through the Center for Work and Service at http://www.wellesley.edu/cws/volunteer/ws.html.
Following are some of the Off-Campus Federal Work-Study agencies that employ FWS students. Students may also set up placements with other non-profit agencies that qualify for FWS funding. Contact stuemp@wellesley.edu with questions on eligibility.
